Transportation
Multimode Transport Consultants Ltd (MTCL), the first venture of the Multimode Group, began by providing lighterage services at Chittagong Port before expanding into shipping, becoming the agency for US Lines in 1985. By 1987, MTCL had acquired five ships, pioneering Bangladesh’s shipping industry with operations from Vladivostok to West Africa, and also became the first global distributor of Proton, Malaysia’s national car. MTCL exited the shipping business in 2000, and today, it specializes in transport management consultancy and automotive services.
RECYCLING
Bangladesh Petrochemical Company Limited (BPCL) operates the country’s first and only post-consumer PET bottle recycling factory in Narayanganj, producing 10,000 MT of recycled PET products (resin and sheet) annually. BPCL supplies recycled PET resin (rPET) to bottling plants, beverage companies, packaging firms, and polyester fiber manufacturers, both locally and internationally. BPCL is committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and environmental impact while improving the livelihoods of waste collectors. The company saves 93,000 m³ of landfill space and diverts 15,000 MT of PET bottles from landfills each year.

Multimode Limited introduced Western Union to Bangladesh, pioneering the private-sector remittance industry—now the country’s second-largest source of revenue. Dulamia Cotton Spinning Mills Ltd. (DCSML), a public listed company, was incorporated on February 28, 1987, under the Romanian credit financing scheme. Its shares began trading on the Dhaka Stock Exchange Ltd. on December 30, 1989, and the Chittagong Stock Exchange Ltd. on October 10, 1995. A member of the Bangladesh Association of Publicly Listed Companies (BAPLC) since 2015, DCSML has made a significant socio-economic impact in Dhagonbhuiyan, Feni, a region outside the country’s industrial belt, particularly in employment and women’s empowerment. Over time, MFCL expanded its portfolio to include adult care products like Clean & Clear, pharmaceuticals such as Listerine, and medical devices through its 2013 partnership with Lifescan’s OneTouch blood glucose monitors.
